2009 Internship Program

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities offers exciting internships oppotunities to college students interested in an arts management career. Interns have the opportunity to gain job experience, build professional skills and network with arts professionals throughout Washington, DC. 

Fall Internships
October-January
15 weeks part-time commitment (20-30 hours per week)
Unpaid
Fall 2008 Application Deadline: Friday, August 29, 2008

Spring Internships
February-May
15 weeks part-time commitment (20-30 hours per week)
Unpaid
Spring 2009 Application Deadline: Friday, December 19, 2008

Summer Internships
June-September
10 to 12 weeks full-time commitment (40-50 hours per week)
$250 a week stipend
Summer 2009 Application Deadline: Friday, April 3, 2009

Applicants must have completed at least 60 hours of college credit.

Recent college graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.

College credit is available for all internship positions and must be arranged with a student's university; contact your school's placement office or the Commission's internship coordinator for details. 

To apply for an internship position, please send a cover letter that clearly states area of interest and goals for the internship, a resume, a letter of reference from a professor, a letter of recommendation from an employer, an official transcript and a writing sample (1,000 words). If your writing sample is an excerpt from a longer piece, please include a brief synopsis. Please do not subit the application materials separately.

All application materials must be received in the Commission office by 5 pm EST on the deadline dates. (An application that is postmarked on the deadline date, faxed or emailed after 5 pm EST on the deadline date is late and will not be considered.)
