The following letters* were sent to DC Poet Laureate Dolores Kendrick from students at Lake Braddock School in Burke, Virginia.  They wrote in response to her visit to their creative writing class in the Spring of 2006.  The teacher of these students is Michael Mariani, one of the country's outstanding teachers, who was honored by the White House for his creative approach to teaching.  The letters are printed with the consent of the students and with gratitude of the DC Poet Laureate.
