Party Animals Public Art Project

The enduring symbols of this country's two major political parties -- the donkey and the elephant -- were on display at strategic locations throughout the nation's capital in the summer of 2002. The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities awarded grants to artists from the District of Columbia and surrounding areas to decorate 100 donkey and 100 elephant sculptures with imaginative designs that stirred up the whimsical side of the nation's capital. The Party Animals were on display from April through early fall of 2002.

If you were unable to purchase a full scale Party Animals sculpture at our auction last year, miniature versions of Grand Old Pachyderm by Gary Jameson, Stars, the Carousel Donkey by Naomi & Byron Bloch, Just Visiting by Mary-Fran Miklitsch and Bush Pilot by Tim Schierer, are now available in Washington DC gift shops or on-line at www.touristart.com. Please visit the website for images of the party animals miniatures. You can also call Touristart.com at (301) 330-8080. All proceeds from the sale of this product benefit the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities Arts and Arts Education grant programs. For more information on Party Animals please visit www.partyanimalsdc.org.
